Become a Story Guide

Story Guides are the writing partners behind Write What You Want to Believe. Each guide is paired with one fellow and walks with them through Phase 1, from first idea to a finished short screenplay. It is a volunteer role for experienced writers who want to pass it on.

WHAT WE ASK

  • ♥At least one network writing credit, or a win at a major film festival
  • ♥Able to meet with your fellow at least once a week during Phase 1
  • ♥Based anywhere in the country, since meetings can be virtual
  • ♥A generous, encouraging approach to notes

Host a fellow

Our graduating fellows have spent 24 weeks writing, collaborating, and working on a real film set. Alongside the craft, they do the inner work: getting clear on what they believe about themselves, naming the future they want, and practicing how to show up for it. Hosting a fellow helps them manifest the next chapter they wrote for themselves.

We welcome partners from every industry, not just film. Offices, shops, schools, studios, hospitals, nonprofits, and small businesses can all give a fellow a real start.

We only place fellows in paid positions, because their time and talent have real value.

Volunteering

Not at all. Many of our roles are about welcoming people, staying organized, and cheering others on. We will help you find the right fit.

It depends on the role. Event volunteers sign up one event at a time. Story Guides meet weekly during Phase 1. Ambassadors help whenever they can.

Event and production volunteers help in person in Metro Atlanta. Story Guides and Community Ambassadors can be anywhere in the country.

Most roles are for adults 18 and up. If you are younger and want to help, email us and we will look for a way to include you.

Yes. Before you start, we will walk you through your role, what to expect, and who to reach out to with questions.

Yes. We love hosting team volunteer days at events and on set. Mention your group on the form.

If you need hours confirmed for school, work, or an organization, let us know and we will be glad to help.

Volunteer roles are unpaid. Fellow placements through Host a Fellow are always paid positions.

Story Guides and Host a Fellow
